On Thursday, November 19, 2015 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a Burlington, Kentucky resident in the 3,600 block of Idlewild Road was awakened to the sound of banging and the sight of flashlights from the property of a next door, unoccupied residence. Responding deputies located a pickup truck, flashlights, a demolished safe and eventually, with the help of a Florence Police Department canine team, two crooks lying in the brush.
The safe is the property of the Sand Run Baptist Church located at 1327 North Bend Road in Hebron, Kentucky. The two admitted to breaking into the church at approximately 1:30 a.m. and removing the safe. They also broke into an unattached building and stole the tools (hammer & crowbar) to break into the safe. From there they drove to Idlewild Road where they cracked the safe.
