On Sunday, October 25, 2015 at approximately 7:50 p.m. a three vehicle collision on westbound I-275 at the 10.0 mile marker claimed the life of one of the drivers.
20 year old TJ White of Switzerland County, was operating a 2003 Honda Civic was driving westbound when he lost control and struck the guardrail on the right side of the road causing heavy damage to the car. At some point he was thrown/ejected from the vehicle. A 2010 Lexus RX5 operated by Vy Le, 33 of Seymour, Indiana struck the Civic and the deceased (who was lying in the roadway) dragging both for approximately 30 yards. A third vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Richard Craig of Lawrenceburg, Indiana reportedly struck debris or some part of the secondary collision. Passengers in the Lexus include Baongoc Than, 28 of Florence, Kentucky and a two month old infant (name unkown).
An initial indicator is that of excessive speed on the part of the deceased. The westbound lanes were completely shut down until 1:00 a.m. while the collision was being investigated. The Boone County Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
TJ was a friend to anyone in Switzerland County. A 2014 graduate of Switzerland County High School, TJ was largely involved in the athletic program for the Pacers. He was a member of the 2013 boys basketball sectional team.
He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him. His contagious spirit and smile will live our hearts.
