On October 23, 2015, Detective Kurtis Wallace received information that a vehicle possibly being operated by Larry D. Covington AGE 66 was in the downtown area.
Detective Wallace has received information that Larry is involved in the Dealing of Methamphetamine and other narcotics in Jefferson County, Indiana. Detective Wallace located the vehicle which had expired license plates. Based on the violation, Ptl. Shawn Scudder and Detective Jonathon Simpson with the Madison Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Officers made contact with the driver identified as Covington. While speaking to Covington officers observed a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance in the driver seat. Officers had Covington exit the vehicle and identified the item in the driver seat as methamphetamine.
During a search incident to arrest of the vehicle, officers located additional methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills identified as Hydrocodone, and a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. Also found in the vehicle were digital scales. Covington also had a large amount of US Currency on his person.
After a complete inventory of the vehicle officers located the following:
126 Grams of Marijuana
5.7 Grams of Methamphetamine
19.3 Grams of Ecstasy
27 Hydrocodone Pills
Digital Scales and US Currency
Larry D. Covington AGE 66 on charges of

Possession of Narcotic Drug
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Paraphernalia
