Two Madison men were arrested on drug charges after a trooper located marijuana in their disabled vehicle he stopped to assist.
At approximately 10:30 PM on Monday (10/19), Trp. Robert Hutson observed a white 1995 Chevrolet pickup at the intersection of State Road 62 near State Road 7 that appeared to be having mechanical issues. Trp. Hutson stopped to assist and began speaking to the occupants of the vehicle. During the course of their conversation, Trp. Hutson observed indicators of criminal activity as well as the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Trp. Hutson obtained permission to search the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Trp. Hutson located numerous plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Carson, 19, Madison, IN, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, class A Misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, class B Misdemeanor. The passenger, Cody Young, 20, Madison, IN, was arrested and charged with dealing marijuana, class A Misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, class B Misdemeanor. Both men were transported to the Jefferson County Jail where they were incarcerated.
