At approximately 8:45am Tuesday morning (8/25/15) Rising Sun police responded to a report of an irate person, possibly armed with a gun and knife, in a wooded ravine near Bakers Trailer Court on State Road 262 in Rising Sun.
The 911 call stated a subject was in the woods screaming and making threats toward other unknown individuals, and sounded to be out of control.
Police searched the area and located the subject, who then fled further into the wooded area after officers made contact. An Indiana Conservation Officer and K-9 were summoned to the scene and located the subject in an overgrown field. The subject was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
The officers searched the area and no weapons or any other evidence was found.
Rising Sun Schools were placed on lock-down as a precaution due to the proximity of the search area. At no time were the students or staff in danger.
The subject was determined to be a homeless female who was in need of mental health services, and was transported to Community Mental Health Center in Lawrenceburg for evaluation.
Rising Sun Police were assisted by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana Conservation Department.
