Indiana State Police Detectives filed felony charges on Monday June 22, 2015 in Switzerland Circuit Court against Joseph Duckworth, the Superintendent of Patriot Water Company.
According the probable cause affidavit filed in Switzerland Circuit Court on June 22nd, State Police detectives began investigating Duckworth on March 9, 2015 on allegations of furnishing alcohol to a minor and sexual relations with a juvenile.
The affidavit goes on to state the details of the investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives which included a sexual assault examination on the victim and DNA testing.
On Tuesday June 16, 2015, Detectives received the results of DNA testing conducted at the Indiana State Police Laboratory in Indianapolis. The DNA analysis tied Duckworth to the alleged crime.
Duckworth was booked into the Switzerland County Jail by detectives on Monday evening, and charged with Rape, a level 3 felony; Sexual Misconduct with a minor, a level 4 felony; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a level 5 felony. Duckworth was released Monday evening on $3000 cash bond.
Duckworth appeared in Switzerland Circuit Court on Tuesday June 23 for arraignment. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for August, and a jury trial for March 22, 2016.
All subjects in this matter are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
