On May 25, 2015 the Madison Police Department received a call from Taco Bell in reference to a subject in the drive thru attempting to run over people.
Ptl. Aaron Watson arrived and located the suspect vehicle in the ditch next to the Taco Bell drive thru. A male subject, identified as Warren E. Brooks II Age 33, was standing on the back of the suspect vehicle as the driver, identified as Shaun L . Couch Age 30, was attempting to get the vehicle out the grass. Once Warren and Shaun observed Ptl. Watson both subjects began to flee on foot.
Ptl. Watson exited his patrol vehicle and began chasing the subjects. After a short chase the subjects separated. Ptl. Watson continued chasing Shaun. After continuing to chase Shaun and him failing to stop after Ptl. Watson ordered him to do so, Ptl. Watson deployed the Taser on Shaun during chase. The Taser was effective in stopping Shaun and he was placed under arrest. Captain Rick Mundt and Ptl. Craig Hahn arrived to assist.
During a search of the area, officers located Warren hiding in a nearby dumpster. Shaun and Warren were placed under arrest. During the investigation Ptl. Watson learned that Shaun was intoxicated. Shaun refused to consent to a breath test. Additional charges of operating while intoxicated were filed on Shaun.
