April 10, 2018, at approximately 2:00PM – Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies Brad Demaree and Charlie Gilles responded to a residential burglary in the 5000 block of 500 N. Madison, Indiana. The occupant of the 500 N. residence returned home to find the house burglarized and property missing.
As a result of the investigation, deputies obtained information that led them to an apartment in the 121 block of Taft Drive, where stolen property from the 500 N. residence was recovered. As the investigation continued, probable cause was established for the arrest of Zachary Watson 24, Lexington, Indiana. Watson was taken into custody and charged with – Residential Burglary Level 4 Felony, Residential Entry Level 6 Felony, and Theft Level 6 Felony.
All property taken in the burglary, which included deer hunting equipment and television’s was recovered by the investigating officers. Madison Police Officer Phillip Wimpee assisted Demaree and Gilles with the investigation. Watson is currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County, Jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on the preliminary alleged charges. All charges are alleged and the accused has the presumption of innocence.
