On Thursday, January 25, 2018, the Indiana State Police arrested a Jefferson County Corrections Officer from Madison, on charges related to a domestic disturbance that took place recently at a Jefferson County residence.
The investigation began when Trp. Andrew Garrett, Indiana State Police, was notified that an altercation had taken place on January 21st between Spencer Perkins, age 21, Madison, and a 20 year old woman from Madison, Indiana. During the course of the investigation, Trp. Garrett determined that Perkins battered the woman, who was his girlfriend, and confined her against her will. Perkins was off-duty at the time of the incident.
Trp. Garrett located Perkins at his residence in Madison, and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Domestic Battery, Strangulation, and Criminal Confinement. After being booked in, Perkins was transported to the Switzerland County Jail due to his position as a correctional officer (jailer) with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
