2017 Swiss Wine Festival was a record-breaker

More than 23,994 people attended the 46th Swiss Wine Festival held on August 24-27 at the Riverfront Park in Vevay, Indiana setting a new overall attendance record beating the previous 2013 record by 1,524 people.

Attendance was down slightly on Thursday but increased on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday was also a new attendance record. Kirk Works, President of the Swiss Wine Festival stated “the great weather and The Charlie Daniels Band was the reason for the new attendance record”  Works further stated “we had numerous people who traveled a long distance to attend the festival”.

Total festival attendance in 2016 was 20,415 and for the 46th Swiss Wine Festival the total attendance was 23,994 an increase of 3,579 people or 17.5% increase from last year.

Thursday evening attendance was estimated to be 2,267. Down 154 from the previous year.

Friday set a new attendance record. There were 8,622 people compared to 5,866 last year. An increase of
47% or 2,756 more people than last year. It was estimated that nearly 5,000 people attended The Charlie Daniels concert. Friday night’s concert was made possible with the financial support from Switzerland County Tourism Commission.

Saturday’s attendance was up 5.5% over 2016 or 542 people. The total number who enjoyed the
festivities on Saturday was 10,369 compared to 9,827 last year.

The crowds on Sunday remained strong. 2,736 people took part in the activities and events on the last day of the festival. The attendance on Sunday was up 435 people compared to 2016.

“We would like to thank all those who helped in any way to make this year’s festival another one to remember. “We hope to continue to be one of the Top 10 Festival in Indiana. However, “we know it will hard to top The Charlie Daniels Band ” Works said.

Follow up and planning meetings are already underway for the next year’s festival. The 47th Swiss Wine Festival will be held on August 23-26, 2018.

    My question is and its always been.
    Great event. Wine festival…but no wine on Thursday??
