August 13, 2017, @ approximately 12:48 PM the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Madison Police Department, arrested Tony R. Jester 42, Madison, Indiana, on a preliminary alleged charge of residential burglary level 4 felony. Jester was located on East Vaughn Drive, just East of the city campground, when officers attempted to take him into custody for the burglary. Jester fled west on foot, through a small wooded area, and into an area of tallgrass along the Ohio River Bank. Deputy Ben Flint deployed his K-9 “Meko” who located Jester in the tall grass and held him until officers could take him into custody. Jester did receive minor injuries when taken into custody by “Meko”.
Deputy Ben Flint and Sergeant Troy Hawkins developed Jester as a primary suspect in a string of residential burglaries they have been investigating in the area of E. State Rd. #56,. As a result of Jester’s arrest, investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for property in which he was staying, and now have linked him to an additional five residential burglaries, bringing the total to six. This criminal investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated. Jester is currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on the preliminary alleged charges of burglary level 4 felony.
