The Switzerland County School board met on Monday evening (2/20/17) and hired a long time Pacer and familiar face to fill the vacancy of varsity girls basketball coach.
Pacer alum Mark Boggs was chosen to fill the vacancy left after Ashley Kitts’ resignation earlier this month. Kitts, who led the team for 6 years, resigned in order to spend more time with her family.
Boggs is no stranger to the sidelines of Switzerland County High School’s court though. Boggs served 10 seasons as boys JV coach, ringing up an impressive 123-71 record. Boggs served under some pretty notable coaches in his tenure as well; serving under David Todd, Brian Bowen, BJ McAllister and current varsity coach Adam Dennis.
However, you can go back even further than just a coaching career for Boggs. You can go back to the days of Steve Goddard, who was Mark’s basketball coach in high school. Boggs is a 1997 graduate of Switzerland County High School and teaches 7th grade math at Switzerland County middle school.
Boggs says he is excited about the new opportunity to help continue the progress that has been made in the girls basketball program at Switz. He looks forward to helping the program remain strong from high school clear down through the youth programs that take place now at the Y.
All of us at Froggy radio wish to congratulate Mark and wish him all the best! We look forward to following the lady Pacers for years to come under Boggs’ leadership!
