Gallatin County School officials and the sheriff’s department are investigating after a threat was made against the schools.
The school corporation posted on their Facebook page last night: “We have received a vague threat of violence against Gallatin County Schools. The threat does not seem creditable but in order to ensure the safety of students and staff we take all threats seriously. We will have an increased law enforcement presence on campus and will be taking extra security measures in the schools. We are letting you know so everyone is aware of the situation. As always the safety and welfare of our students and staff is our top priority.”
Gallatin County Sheriff Josh Neale posted on the department’s Facebook page, asking for help from the community.
“Due to the current post and threats that are out there on facebook against our school, I need everyone who has received these messages to please forward them to the Sheriffs office page via private message. We are aggressively looking into each and every message. The problem is we are not getting the information until it is posted on Facebook through a screen shot. We need to know who has received these messages and the date and time message was received. This is for legal purposes.”
We’ll continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
