On June 21st, at 2:21 am the Switzerland County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call from Camp Livingston. The caller reported that a tree had fallen onto a cabin during the thunderstorm, the cabin was occupied by children and three adults. The caller stated all the children, except one, were safe with no injuries.
Units arrived on scene and discovered that the child still in the cabin had died as a result of her injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Switzerland County Coroner’s office.
The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the East Enterprise Vol. Fire Dept., Switzerland County Emergency Response and the Switzerland County Emergency Management Agency.

Many folks in Ripley and Switzerland Counties were rudely awakened by a severe storm that blew through around 2:30am Tuesday morning, prompting flash flood warnings and resulting in a heartbreaking tragedy at Camp Livingston in Switzerland County.
According to Local 12, WKRC-TV, Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan Hughes says an 11 year old girl was killed after a tree fell on a cabin she was sleeping in.
No warnings were in effect for the storm at the time.
Deputies continue to investigate.
