On December 29, 2015, Detective Kurtis Wallace and Detective Jonathon Simpson with the Madison Police Department, received information concerning the sale of narcotics occurring Madison. The information received alleged that an individual, identified as Troy Smith, was at the Circle K gas station in downtown Madison in possession of methamphetamine.
Detectives Wallace and Detective Simpson along with Madison PatrolmanShawn Scudder arrived a short time later and observed Troy Smith, 31, of Madison, outside of the gas station. After speaking with Smith, Officers attempted to place Smith in handcuffs. After a brief struggle, Smith was arrested and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Smith was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he awaits his initial apperance on the alledged charges. Smith was also on parole through the Indiana Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest for an unrelated charge.
