Madison Police received a call in reference to a prescription that had been called into Kroger Pharmacy. Kroger Pharmacists learned that the prescription was not called in by a physician and contacted police.
Detective Kurtis Wallace and Detective Jonathon Simpson arrived at Kroger waiting for the subject to pick up the prescription. A male subject, identified as Ryan Ward Age 32 of Madison, arrived at the store. Ryan signed for the controlled substance and began exiting the store. He was stopped by officers.
Officers learned that a female, identified as Deborah L Ward Age 32 of Madison was waiting in a vehicle. Officers spoke to Deborah and Ryan. According to them, they were picking up a prescription of an aunt. The aunt was contacted and confirmed she did not have a prescription for medication Ryan picked up.
Officers also learned that a phone Deborah had on her person was the same number that called Kroger Pharmacy inquiring about the prescription. Deborah then stated she called in the prescription. Both subjects were placed under arrest.
Ryan D. Ward is facing charges of: Obtaining Prescription Drug by Fraud and Possession of Controlled Substance. Deborah Ward was charged with: Obtaining Prescription Drug by Fraud.
