December 28th, 2016, @ 8:27 PM the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported battery in progress outside of 3053 Cameron Court. Responding officers attempted to make contact with the parties involved, who had entered the residence prior to officers arrival, however no response was received. Investigating officers identified the male subject involved, in the alleged battery, as Marcus R. Caffey 44, Madison, Indiana. Deputy Brent Bennett, who led the investigation, sought and obtained a search warrant for the residence, and a domestic battery warrant for Caffey.
The Madison Emergency Response Team was summoned to the scene and assisted with the execution of the search warrant. After numerous attempts to talk the occupants out of the residence failed, the emergency response team entered the residence, and took Caffey into custody without incident.
Marcus Caffey was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on the alleged preliminary charge of domestic battery, a level 6 felony. The Madison Police and Indiana State Police assisted the Sheriff’s Department with this ongoing investigation.
