In July 2016, Detective Kurtis Wallace with the Madison Police Department met with a confidential informant who was assisting police. The informant advised that a person they identified as Kyle Wayne Ashcraft of Hanover, was selling methamphetamine in the Madison area.
Later in July 2016, Detective Wallace along with Detective Tyson Eblen and Patrolman Kyle Cutshaw, also with Madison Police Department, made arrangements through the informant to purchase methamphetamine from Ashcraft. A controlled buy was conducted and the informant was able to successfully purchase a crystal-like substance from Ashcraft in Madison. The substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
On November 27, 2016, Detective Wallace conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the downtown Madison area for a traffic infraction. During the stop Ashcraft was found to be a passenger in the vehicle. Detective Wallace and Captain Rick Mundt placed Ashcraft under arrest for one count of dealing in methamphetamine. Ashcraft was transported to the Jefferson County Jail on the preliminary alleged charge.
