At approximately 12:45am on Sunday Morning (1/10/16), the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle accident with injuries on State Road 56 North, outside of Rising Sun.
When deputies arrived, they noticed all three occupants were out of the vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver, identified as 34 year old Johnny Turner Jr. of Patriot and his passenger, 27 year old Renee Carpenter and a toddler were all wearing seatbelts.
Deputies believed Johnny Turner Jr. was under the influence at the time of the crash, and placed him under arrest. Johnny Turner Jr.’s toxicology results are pending.
Johnny Turner Jr. was charged with: Possession with intent to deliver a narcotic drug-over 5 grams (Level 3 felony), Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger under 18 (Level 6 felony), Neglect of a dependent (level 6 felony), and Operating while intoxicated-endangering (A misdemeanor).
Carpenter and the juvenile toddler were transported to Dearborn County Hospital by Ohio County EMS for observation. The juvenile toddler was released to a Dearborn/Ohio County DCS Family Case Manager.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Rising Sun Police Department, Rising Sun Fire Department and Ohio County EMS.
